The Convicts


 Hello Everyone,

With everything going on around the country from smoke issues in the north because of the Canadian forest fires, to the Sahara Dust coating those of us in the south, I certainly hope everyone is doing good! 

This past week found me busy once again traveling up to Jacksonville to help out with a large dinner Gala. Multiple Congressional Reps and a Senator and past senators & Reps were all in attendance so needless to say security was everywhere you looked. Either way the event went off very smooth and successfully. As it should! This week’s pic is one I snapped of the stage during sound check but unfortunate the Red-White-Blue backlights were not on when I snapped the shot!  

This week with all the drivetime I finished the audio book I was listening to, The Convicts by Iain Lawrence. This is the second book I have enjoyed from this author and I would say I will take in some more of his titles down the road.  

The Convicts was narrated by John Keating who did an excellent job with multiple character voicings and keeping a steady smooth flowing dialogue. The story follows Tom Tin a sheltered young lad who after his father is hauled away to debtors prison heads out on his own. Tom is out to find a way to support his mother and payoff the debt to free his father. Like any good tale Tom has the worst stroke of luck with one situation leading to another and to another with each progressively becoming worse than the prior. It seems multiple people think he is someone else and he eventually finds himself hauled off to a ship filled with youth criminals to serve his time. His streak of bad luck doesn’t end there! Needless to say I am not going to give away the ending so I suggest you check this one out and enjoy a tale that so many of us can relate. It always seems when one things goes wrong, everything goes wrong.

  Hello Me Maties, This past week was spent continuing to promote the new book  Times Castaway Book One Blackbeard’s Treasure . I am pleased to say that this book has had readers/listeners every single day for over a week now. The Rattler & Anniversary

  Howdy,   Well this week we will officially say goodbye to Summer. This means cooler weather is on the way. For us here in the south this is a good thing as we will return to great temps and hopefully dryer sky’s. For those in the north get that winter coat out and check your car battery for cold cranking and all the other things required to prep for winter.   Besides the end of Summer this week Monday also brings another anniversary for Deb and I. Monday the 21 st  we hit 27 years since we said, “I DO!” I will not sugar coat it as it has not always been smooth sailing and like any relationship we have hit bumps and potholes in the road but my wife is still my best friend and the love of my life. We will keep moving forward, Love you Deb! The Immortal Sword Second Screening

  Hello Me Mates, This past week saw yet another steady week with the day job and a couple friends losing family members unexpectedly. I offer my condolences to them and yet again a reminder to always make use of the time we have together and don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today.  Like always for most book’s sales are down this month and this is very common as July is considered a bad month for book sales. People like us are busy enjoying outside activities and even though many are still reading, history and studies show the amount is way lower in July and August. Hey, I still have sales so I consider this a good thing.  I am continuing to work on book two of Times Castaway. As I make this run through where I clean up sentence structure and wordings I find even myself pulled in making it difficult at times as my mind begins to wander and things get added.
