Happy 250th America

 

Greetings,

Let’s start with Happy 250th America! 

I certainly hope all my United States followers had a fun and safe fourth celebration. At the Wally T house we didn’t do anything special except grill hotdogs and have a couple drinks. 

I think I will share a little known piece of history. Besides giving thanks to everyone who has fought for our nations freedom, we also should give thanks to the pirates in the Bahamas during the beginning of the 18th century. The pirates of this day took a stand against a crown that used them and tossed them aside. It is because of this they turned to piracy and refused to accept the Kings rule. Our nation’s founding fathers knew their history and learned how a hand full of disorganized rebellious privateers was able to take a stand against the overwhelming power of the English crown for multiple years. This rebellion was our founding fathers inspiration and led to their belief that they could defeat the King of England. 

Please don’t get me wrong, as much as we all enjoy a good pirate story, many of them were very much cold hearted killers but also some were not. Their goal, to cause disruption and take back what was taken from them. They succeeded! We say thank you to what they inspired in a group of colonists years later who were tired of the abuse and corruption of a King far across the sea leading to the creation of a better nation ruled by the people. 

The summer heat has also found my alter Ego’s (The Day Job) heating up. This past week was a busy week with a couple days never getting away from the laptop all day. I guess that is why they call it WORK. I do have the positive note that my recent book Times Castaway Book One Blackbeard’s Treasure hit #6 in the Kindle Sea Adventures Fiction genre. What a great feeling to see people enjoying the book! 

With out further ado here is my review of “Beneath the Black Flag” by Sasa Fegic.  This book is a little over five hours long and is a High Seas pirate tale of love and revenge. Lady Hawthorne is an interesting character who finds herself caught between two men. This tale was told VIA a female virtual voice that had an enjoyable tone. This combined with the whimsical wording for descriptions and world building made it a good listen helping the mind drift off to another time and place. 

If you are looking for a tale that will help you drift off and away from the issues of this world and to those in another era this one should be in your list!

I hope everyone had a great 250th 4th and are now ready to make it through the dog days of summer!

  Hello Me Maties, This past week was spent continuing to promote the new book  Times Castaway Book One Blackbeard’s Treasure . I am pleased to say that this book has had readers/listeners every single day for over a week now. Just need to keep it going!  I have to apologize as I still have not finished the audiobook Argentia Station yet. Just didn’t get the listening time I needed. BUT!!!! The Rattler & Anniversary

  Howdy,   Well this week we will officially say goodbye to Summer. This means cooler weather is on the way. For us here in the south this is a good thing as we will return to great temps and hopefully dryer sky’s. For those in the north get that winter coat out and check your car battery for cold cranking and all the other things required to prep for winter.   Besides the end of Summer this week Monday also brings another anniversary for Deb and I. Monday the 21 st  we hit 27 years since we said, “I DO!” I will not sugar coat it as it has not always been smooth sailing and like any relationship we have hit bumps and potholes in the road but my wife is still my best friend and the love of my life. We will keep moving forward, Love you Deb! The Immortal Sword Second Screening

  Hello Me Mates, This past week saw yet another steady week with the day job and a couple friends losing family members unexpectedly. I offer my condolences to them and yet again a reminder to always make use of the time we have together and don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today.  Like always for most book’s sales are down this month and this is very common as July is considered a bad month for book sales. People like us are busy enjoying outside activities and even though many are still reading, history and studies show the amount is way lower in July and August. Hey, I still have sales so I consider this a good thing.  I am continuing to work on book two of Times Castaway. As I make this run through where I clean up sentence structure and wordings I find even myself pulled in making it difficult at times as my mind begins to wander and things get added.
